No charges laid following Grimshaw hooded man investigation

Feb 26, 2021 | 4:04 PM

The Peace Regional RCMP says no charges will be laid against the individual who wore a pillowcase as a COVID-19 mask that resembled a Klu Klux Klan hood on January 8 at the Grimshaw post office.

On January 8 an investigation was launched and on January 9 a suspect was identified and other investigative steps were taken, including witness interviews and the collection of photographic evidence.

Police say as their investigation concluded they found there was no reasonable likelihood of conviction for any Criminal Code offence.

This decision was made after conducting a thorough investigation and consulting with the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service Office of Special Prosecutions.

The investigation on the matter is now closed. No further updates will be provided by RCMP.
