Update #2 (6:00 p.m.): Grande Prairie man killed in Highway 2 collision Friday

UPDATE (4:30 p.m.): 511 Alberta says Highway 2 near Webster has reopened following a collision Friday morning.

Grande Prairie RCMP is warning drivers of a closure of Highway 2 at Township Road 744A, after a semi-truck and car collided on the highway.

Traffic is blocked in both directions, and detours are in place to divert commuters from the location. Motorists are also advised to find their own alternate routes around the scene to avoid further backups.

The RCMP says the road will remain closed to traffic for an extended period of time as the cause of the collision is investigated.
