Grande Prairie adds 23 new COVID-19 cases, 35 recoveries

There were 23 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the City of Grande Prairie for Friday, February 26, along with 35 recoveries, bringing Grande Prairie’s active case total down to 204.

In the County of Grande Prairie there were five new cases identified along with one recovery, bringing the active case total there up to 50.

Meanwhile, there were 415 new COVID-19 cases found in Alberta, on 7,761 tests, resulting in a 5.1 per cent test positivity rate. There are now 4,546 active cases in the province.

Of those active cases, 1,044 of those are in the North Zone.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day Feb. 26 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 1,603 cases (204 active, 1,377 recovered, 22 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 445 cases (50 active, 392 recovered, three deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 378 cases (40 active, 335 recovered, three deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 12 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 47 cases (two active, 45 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 14 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 110 cases (100 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 461 cases (nine active, 441 recovered, 11 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 251 cases (26 active, 225 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 438 cases (50 active, 388 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 57 cases (56 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 106 cases (105 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 236 cases (nine active, 226 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 94 cases (20 active, 74 recoveries)
  • Mackenzie County: 824 cases (234 active, 574 recovered, 16 deaths

Hospitalizations across the province continued to drop on Friday from 269 to 262. ICU patients in Alberta also fell from 55 down to 51. In the North Zone there are 33 people in the hospital and two are in the ICU.

Six new deaths were confirmed as a result of COVID-19 in Alberta, bringing the province’s COVID-19 death toll to 1,883.

As of the end of the day on Friday, 218,696 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine had been administered in the province, while 85,442 Albertans have received their second dose.
