County announces new process for annual property inspections

Mar 3, 2021 | 5:35 PM

In order to supplement the County of Grande Prairie’s annual re-inspection cycle, homeowners in the west end of the County and the Town of Sexsmith will soon be receiving a request to provide information about their property through the mail, as part of the County’s annual property inspection program.

The program is a standard policy put in place by the provincial government and requires all municipalities in Alberta to perform ongoing re-inspections and complete overall inspections of all properties in a five-year term.

This year, to limit person-to-person contact between County assessors and residents, request for information forms will be mailed to residential properties in the designated re-inspection areas.

The forms can also be filled out online at the County’s website, scanned, emailed or mailed.

The deadline for the property owners to complete the form is May 15.

County assessors may still do in-person inspections of a property upon request, to verify submitted information and to follow up with property owners who did not complete the form.

Residents that have questions about the property inspectors and program can call the County at 780-513-3952.
