Grande Prairie adds nine new COVID-19 cases, 17 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie recorded nine new cases of COVID-19 and 17 recoveries on March 3, bringing the active case total down to 209.

The County of Grande Prairie added four new cases and five recoveries, lowering the active caseload there to 60 as of the end of day Wednesday.

Across Alberta, there were 331 new cases identified after 9,483 tests were completed, resulting in a 3.4 per cent positivity rate.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day March 4 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 1,679 cases (209 active, 1,447 recovered, 23 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 477 cases (60 active, 414 recovered, three deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 398 cases (45 active, 350 recovered, three deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 12 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 47 cases (all recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 14 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 111 cases (one active, 100 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 461 cases (eight active, 442 recovered, 11 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 252 cases (15 active, 237 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 458 cases (57 active, 401 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 57 cases (56 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 106 cases (105 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 237 cases (seven active, 229 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 96 cases (14 active, 82 recoveries)
  • Mackenzie County: 909 cases (228 active, 663 recovered, 18 deaths)

Hospitalizations in Alberta sat at 245 as of Wednesday night in Alberta, with 47 people in an ICU. In the North Zone, 27 people are in hospital, two of whom are in intensive care.

Nine new deaths from COVID-19 were reported to Alberta Health on Thursday. The provincial death toll now sits at 1,911 as of March 3.

The province has now administered 266,231 doses of vaccine, with 89,786 Albertans having been fully vaccinated. This comes as the province announced they are moving forward with the vaccine rollout starting March 15 for people aged 65-74.
