Grande Prairie Public Library reopening March 8

Mar 4, 2021 | 12:10 PM

Officials at the Grande Prairie Public Library says they will be reopening for in-person services on Monday, March 8.

This after the province said libraries could reopen at 15 per cent of fire code capacity back on March 1, as part of Step 2 of Alberta’s phased relaunch strategy.

The library will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. from March 8-11, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on March 12 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 13. The library will be closed on Sunday, March 14.

The library will then return to normal hours of operation on March 15, being open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and 1-5 p.m. on Sundays.

Curbside pickup services will also continue beyond March 8.

Masks are mandatory inside the library, so eating and drinking will not be permitted in the public areas of the library.

The Rotary Community Room will also be available for rental beginning March 8. The room will be capped at 10 people who must be from the same household. The Rotary Training Room will also be set up soon for exam bookings.

Library director Deb Cryderman says they are continuing to iron-out plans for programming for adults and teens, and will be announcing any programming updates on their social media channels.
