GPCSD celebrating successful reverse food drive
Grande Prairie and District Catholic Schools are celebrating a successful food drive from this past weekend.
On March 6, students, parents, staff, as well as members of the community gathered at St Joseph’s Catholic Church to collect food for various organizations in the city.
“There’s a group of us basically called the ‘Grace Group’, so we’re kind of grateful advocates of Catholic education and we enlisted the support of schools, as well as the community members to raise food and necessities for various organizations,” explained Karl Germann, the Superintendent for Grande Prairie and District Catholic Schools when asked about why the food drive was started.
“It was our goal to raise a little bit of food and see what we can do to contribute back to the community, because right now is a time when the food banks start to get a little lower, and peoples needs start to come back again because the caring and love over the Christmas rush have dissipated a bit.”
