After signing a contract with the Vegas Golden Knights in July of 2020, former Grande Prairie Storm goaltender Logan Thompson got his first look in the NHL during Vegas’ Wednesday night game against the Minnesota Wild.

Thompson relieved Golden Knights goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury during the third period when the Golden Knights trailed 4-1.

The 24-year-old stopped the two shots he faced during his 8:15 of time in the crease. Vegas would fall 4-3 to Minnesota.

Previous to his NHL debut, Thompson has spent this season playing for the Henderson Silver Knights, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Golden Knights.

In seven AHL games this season, Thompson has a 6-1 record and a .946 save percentage. His play in goal earned him the AHL’s Goaltender of the Month.

Thompson served as one of the Storm’s goaltenders in the 2014-15 season, where he posted a .906 save percentage and had a 3.38 goals against average. His regular season record was 4-11-5.

He becomes the fourth Storm player to play a game in the NHL, behind Grant Stevenson, Carter Rowney and Tanner Fritz.
