Two suspected street-level drug dealers have been arrested by the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) in Grande Prairie after a search of an apartment and vehicle turned up cocaine and oxycodone pills.

ALERT Grande Prairie’s organized crime team, with the help of the Grande Prairie RCMP, conducted the search on February 25 which turned up 524 grams of cocaine, 137 tabs of oxycodone and over $9,000 in cash.

Two Edmonton men, 24-year-old Mohammed Muntasar Dawood and 23-year-old Hussain Ali Matroud have both been charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime.

“Street-level drug sales prey upon people’s addictions, and with that comes a number of related property-type crimes and offences,” said Insp. Sean Boser, ALERT Regional teams. “A quick arrest like this goes a long way towards improving community safety,”

ALERT urges anyone who suspects drug or gang activity in their community to report it to their local police, or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
