Active COVID-19 cases drop to 182 in Grande Prairie as seven new cases identified

The City of Grande Prairie added seven new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday along with 14 recoveries, bringing the active case total in the city down to 182 as of the end of day March 12.

The County of Grande Prairie added one new case and seven recoveries, bringing the active caseload there to 71.

Across Alberta there were 388 new cases identified after the completion of 8,343 tests. The positivity rate on those tests came back with at approximately 4.7 per cent.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of March 13 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 1,816 cases (182 active, 1,611 recovered, 23 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 533 cases (71 active, 459 recovered, three deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 422 cases (35 active, 384 recovered, three deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 12 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 47 cases (all recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 14 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 112 cases (102 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 467 cases (seven active, 449 recovered, 11 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 255 cases (two active, 253 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 479 cases (41 active, 438 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 58 cases (one active, 56 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 106 cases (105 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 240 cases (five active, 234 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 98 cases (four active, 94 recoveries)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,032 cases (154 active, 860 recovered, 18 deaths)

Hospitalizations in the province fell to 248 as of Saturday night, with 38 of those people in an ICU. In the North Zone, hospitalizations dropped to 26, with two people in intensive care.

There were six deaths reported to Alberta Health over the past 24 hours, raising the provincial death toll to 1,946.

357,983 doses of vaccine have now been administered in the province, which is 11,848 more than the day prior. 91,538 Albertans have been fully vaccinated.
