An Amber Alert is not yet in effect, though RCMP in Cochrane say they’re investigating the disappearance of two young children as an abduction.

RCMP say members responded March 13 to a report of two missing female children, along with two female adults.

They were all last seen at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Friday, March 12 at the children’s home, a rural residence in Cochrane.

RCMP say the reason there has not been an Amber Alert issued in this investigation is because not all criteria has been met for the province to issue such an alert.

“In this circumstance, the RCMP do not have evidence to indicate that the threshold has been met. Further comments about the rationale behind this will not be provided in an effort to protect aspects of this investigation,” say RCMP, in a release.
