Storm to broadcast all home games on Telus Optik TV

Mar 16, 2021 | 5:30 AM

Grande Prairie Storm hockey will be arriving in the living rooms of the Peace Region for the remainder of the season.

The Storm have announced that all home games broadcast this season will be viewable on Telus Optic TV thanks to a new partnership between Telus and the Storm.

Storm President Chris Milsap says the partnership with Telus will help them raise their production level, so they can give fans the best at-home experience possible.

“We’ve essentially quadrupled our production value,” said Millsap. “We’re going to have multiple camera angles, we’re going to have a pre-game, intermission programming, replays, it’s going to look a lot closer to a professional production than what we’ve been able to put together for HockeyTV, so we’re pretty excited.”

Millsap stressed that if you’re already a subscriber of HockeyTV, you will not be affected and will be able to continue to watch Storm games through your subscription.

“It’s essentially going to be a simulcast of our HockeyTV feed. There will be no production truck involved, we’re going to upload to Telus right from the arena and basically, we’re going to be splitting our HockeyTV feed to HockeyTV and to Telus.

Every Storm home game will be available to every Telus Optik subscriber and will be available on channel 1965.

The Storm are home for a pair of games this weekend. They’ll host the Drayton Valley Thunder at 6:00 p.m. on March 20. They’ll then shift their attention to the Whitecourt Wolverines on March 21.
