Registration open for Easter Eggstravaganza event March 22

Grande Prairie residents can reserve their spot for the City of Grande Prairie’s Easter Eggstravaganza Event starting on March 22.

The annual Easter egg hunt for kids aged 0-10 will take place at the Heritage Village on April 3, but will look a little different because of COVID-19. However, Recreation Programming and Events Supervisor with the city Hayley Kramps says it will still be as fun as usual.

“Participants will be given 45-minutes to complete their hunt. When in the village, they will be given a sheet that will have everything that they need to find in order to win their prizes,” said Kramps.

“There will also be the exact number of eggs that children need to find for each child. Once they find their eggs, they will find their representative and they will essentially redeem their eggs for their prizes and leave.”

Kramps says there will also be an appearance from the Easter Bunny at the festivities.

“We also will have a photoshoot with the Easter Bunny. It will be a social distanced photoshoot, so there will be a white picket fence to keep our bunny out of everybody’s way.”

The City of Grande Prairie says it will allow as many as 250 children to participate in the event.

For those who are unable to attend the Easter Eggstravaganza on April 3, the city is still continuing with their annual Easter Colouring Contest, which will run until April 5.

“The Easter Colouring Contest can be found on the city’s website. It is a cute picture of the Easter Bunny with some eggs and children are encouraged to colour them and submit them,” explained Kramps. “(The entries) are then split into age categories, and a winner will be selected at random. The prizes include a scooter and a variety of bikes.”
