Grande Prairie adds 11 new COVID-19 cases, 13 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added 11 new cases of COVID-19 and 13 recoveries for March 22, lowering the active caseload in the city by two to 154.

The County of Grande Prairie added one new case and 12 recoveries, which dropped the number of active cases there by 11 to 49 as of the end of day Monday.

Across Alberta there were 465 new cases identified on Monday, following the completion of 7,328 tests. The positivity rate on those tests was about 6.3 per cent.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day March 22 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 1,918 cases (154 active, 1,741 recovered, 23 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 565 cases (49 active, 512 recovered, four deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 442 cases (29 active, 410 recovered, three deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 12 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 50 cases (three active, 47 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 14 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 112 cases (102 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 469 cases (seven active, 451 recovered, 11 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 258 cases (five active, 253 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 486 cases (13 active, 473 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 59 cases (one active, 57 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 106 cases (105 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 243 cases (four active, 238 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 99 cases (three active, 96 recoveries)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,188 cases (203 active, 966 recovered, 19 deaths)

Hospitalizations for COVID-19 increased by 10 on Monday, totalling 290. Of those in hospital, 53 were in an ICU, which is an increase of five from the day prior.

In the North Zone, 25 people are in hospital, five of whom are in intensive care.

Three more deaths from COVID-19 were reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours, bringing the provincial death toll to 1,971.

The province says a total of 497,280 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered as of Monday, an increase of 10,000 from the day before. 93,681 Albertans are fully immunized with two doses.
