Grande Prairie adds 25 new COVID-19 cases, 10 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added 25 new cases of COVID-19 and 10 recoveries on Tuesday, raising the active caseload in the city by 15 to 169.

Thirteen new cases and two recoveries were recorded in the County of Grande Prairie for March 23 as well, bringing the active case total there up to 60.

Meanwhile, Alberta added 692 new cases for March 23 following the completion of about 12,800 tests. The provincial positivity rate sits at about 5.3 per cent.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day March 23 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 1,943 cases (169 active, 1,751 recovered, 23 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 578 cases (60 active, 514 recovered, four deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 445 cases (29 active, 413 recovered, three deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 12 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 50 cases (three active, 47 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 14 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 112 cases (102 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 470 cases (six active, 453 recovered, 11 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 259 cases (six active, 253 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 490 cases (15 active, 475 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 59 cases (one active, 57 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 106 cases (105 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 243 cases (four active, 238 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 99 cases (three active, 96 recoveries)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,203 cases (193 active, 991 recovered, 19 deaths)

Hospitalizations dropped by five in Alberta to 285, with ICU admissions holding at 53. In the North Zone, there are 25 people in hospital, five of whom are in an ICU.

Two more deaths from COVID-19 were reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours, bringing the provincial death toll to 1,973.

Over 512,000 doses have now been administered in Alberta, while over 418,000 Albertans as of Tuesday had booked an appointment for the vaccine.
