Grande Prairie adds 30 new COVID-19 cases, 10 recoveries

There were 30 new cases of COVID-19 and 10 recoveries identified in the City of Grande Prairie for March 26, bringing the number of active cases in the city to 192.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were 13 new cases and three recoveries found, bringing their active case total to 78 active.

Alberta recorded 668 new cases of COVID-19 for Friday, following the completion of 11,522 tests. Those tests came back with a 5.8 per cent positivity rate.

There are currently 7,366 active cases in the province, 1,803 (24.3%) of which are variants of concern, an increase of 207 from the day prior.

In the North Zone there have been 106 cases involving variants of concern, an increase of 18 on Friday.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day March 26 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 2,012 cases (192 active, 1,797 recovered, 23 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 611 cases (78 active, 529 recovered, four deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 450 cases (30 active, 417 recovered, three deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 12 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 51 cases (four active, 47 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 14 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 112 cases (102 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 476 cases (11 active, 454 recovered, 11 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 261 cases (eight active, 253 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 494 cases (18 active, 476 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 62 cases (four active, 57 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 107 cases (one active, 105 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 243 cases (four active, 239 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 99 cases (one active, 98 recoveries)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,228 cases (158 active, 1,051 recovered, 19 deaths)

Across the province, hospitalizations fell by one down to 283, while ICU patients grew by six to 65. In the North Zone, 26 people are in hospital, six of which are in the ICU.

On Friday, the province administered 18,460 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. 577,223 Albertans have now been given at least one dose of the vaccine, 95,452 people have been fully vaccinated.
