Wolverines pick up third straight win over Storm

Mar 28, 2021 | 11:53 AM

After being near the top of the league since the restart, the Grande Prairie Storm’s penalty killers hit a bit of a snag this weekend.

After giving up three power-play goals in Drayton Valley on Friday, the Storm gave up two more on Saturday in a 6-2 loss in Whitecourt for their third straight loss overall, and third loss in as many meetings with the Wolverines this season.

Ty Toews and Cooper Connell had power-play goals for the Storm, who trailed 1-0 and 3-0 at the period breaks.

After getting the night off on Friday, Joe Howe returned to the Storm net on Saturday, making 23 saves.

The Storm will try to snap both streaks when they host the Wolverines on Saturday night at Revolution Place.
