Aquatera adjusts days of operation at Eco Centre

Aquatera is shortening the number of days the Eco Centre will be open in Grande Prairie, going from six to five days a week.

Previously the Eco Centre had been open Monday-Saturday. The recycling centre will now be closed on Mondays, operating Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding holidays.

Aquatera officials say they expect this change will improve operational efficiency and worker capacity at the centre.

Anyone looking to recycle on Mondays and holidays will be able to do so at the Aquatera Landfill, for a fee.

“The Landfill will continue to accept cardboard, hard plastics #1-7, and metals,” said Lora Brenan, Aquatera’s Chief Operating Officer. “However, the Landfill will not be accepting household hazardous waste such as paint, oil.”

The change will have no impact on curbside collection services, which will continue to be collected on garbage day as normal.
