For the second day in a row, Alberta Health is reporting 1,100 new cases of COVID-19.
The new cases come after 12,100 tests were completed on April 2, meaning the positivity rate for testing was nine per cent.
Of the new cases, 550 were of variants of concern. Those variants now make up 35 per cent of all active cases in the province.
Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, also announced on Twitter Saturday that a “significant” outbreak involving the P.1 variant, first identified in Brazil, is being investigated by the province.
