Book COVID-19 vaccinations through AHS

Vaccine rollout Phase 2B expands to AHS vaccination clinics

Apr 5, 2021 | 11:27 AM

The Alberta COVID-19 vaccine rollout plan’s Phase 2B has been expanded to allow people to book appointments at Alberta Health Services clinics across the province.

This allows Albertans born in or before 1963 with eligible underlying health conditions to book an appointment for a vaccination online or by calling 811.

Under Phase 2B, Albertans who have at least one of the following health conditions are eligible for their shots.

  • A missing spleen or a spleen that is no longer working
  • Cancer
  • Chronic heart disease and vascular disease
  • Chronic kidney diseases requiring regular medical monitoring or treatment
  • Chronic liver disease due to any cause
  • Chronic neurological disease
  • Chronic respiratory (lung) diseases
  • Diabetes requiring insulin or other anti-diabetic medication to control
  • A weakened immune response due to disease or treatment
  • Anyone who is currently pregnant
  • Severe mental illness or substance use disorder requiring a hospital stay during the past year
  • Severe obesity
  • Severe or profound learning disabilities or severe developmental delay
  • Solid organ, bone marrow or stem cell transplant recipients

Prior to this expansion, vaccinations were only available to the Phase 2B group through select pharmacies in Edmonton, Calgary and Red Deer.

Alberta Health says as more vaccines become available, Phase 2B will be expanded to include a younger segment of Albertans with underlying health conditions. It’s also expected that pharmacies in other communities will be able to supply people with their shots in the coming weeks.

Those who are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccines under Phase 1 or Phase 2A and have not received their dose are still able to book an appointment.
