COVID-19 testing available at Edmonton International Airport

Apr 8, 2021 | 1:46 PM

Edmonton International Airport, in conjunction with Numi Health Inc., has launched a new program to provide two types of COVID-19 testing for passengers.

It builds off the existing screening program for front-line airport employees that began at the end of March.

Passengers travelling through EIA will be able to access either rapid screening antigen tests, which provide results within 30 minutes, or a PCR test, which sends the sample to a medical laboratory, with the results emailed to the person within 48 hours.

Passengers are advised to know which type of test results may be needed in order to travel to their specific destinations.

The screening area is located on the second level of the north end of the terminal.

Results of antigen tests are shared only with the person who was tested. Those who take this test will receive printed documentation of their results at the site.

If an individual receives a positive result from the antigen test, they will need to return home and contact Alberta Health services to determine if a full COVID-19 PCR test is required.

EIA says by providing these tests, they are able to better serve passengers and move towards the return of safe airline travel.
