Apr 12, 2021 | 10:19 AM

Year two of the GP Grows at home gardening program will open for online registrations on Wednesday, April 14.

Residents who sign up for the program will receive one of 1,500 available free seasonal gardening kits, consisting of vegetable and flower seeds, as well as a seed potato.

Registration will be available online starting April 14 at 8:30 a.m. and will stay open until April 28, or until supplies run out.

Once those interested have registered, they will receive instructions to pick-up their gardening kit from Revolution Place between April 30 and May 1.

Everyone participating in GP Grows is also encouraged to share photos of their gardens on social media using the hashtag #GPGrows.

“The City of Grande Prairie is excited to bring the program back this year and looks forward to the launch of this phase to continue to provide residents an opportunity to experience the benefits of gardening and a free and fun activity everyone can enjoy,” says the City in a release.

GP Grows was started in the spring of 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to encourage residents to get outside. After quick success of the initial launch, the program was expanded and ran a total of three phases.
