Grande Prairie adds 30 new COVID-19 cases, 30 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie recorded 30 new cases of COVID-19 and 30 recoveries for Sunday, keeping the active case total in the city at 479 as of the end of day April 11.

The County of Grande Prairie saw 13 new cases added along with nine recoveries. There are now 207 active cases in that region.

Across Alberta, there were 1,136 new cases identified following the completion of 12,286 tests. Those tests had a 9.1 per cent positivity rate.

There were also 679 cases involving variants of concern in the province on Sunday. Variant cases now make up 51.3 per cent of the 14,849 active cases in the province.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day April 11 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 2,585 cases (479 active, 2082 recovered, 24 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 850 cases (207 active, 639 recovered, four deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 481 cases (23 active, 454 recovered, four deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 14 cases (two active, 12 recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 57 cases (six active, 51 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 18 cases (three active, 15 recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 123 cases (eight active, 105 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 521 cases (44 active, 466 recovered, 11 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 271 cases (10 active, 261 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 514 cases (23 active, 491 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 77 cases (13 active, 63 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 113 cases (six active, 106 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 253 cases (six active, 247 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 102 cases (three active, 99 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,313 cases (62 active, 1,231 recovered, 20 deaths)

There are 390 Albertans in hospital for COVID-19 as of Sunday night, of those in hospital, 90 patients are in intensive care. In the North Zone, 37 people are in hospital, four of whom are in intensive care.

Five more deaths were reported to Alberta Health from across the province over the last 24 hours from COVID-19. There have now been 2,018 Albertans who have died from COVID-19 complications.
