Grande Prairie again adds 29 new COVID-19 cases, 28 recoveries

For the second day in a row, the City of Grande Prairie recorded 29 new cases of COVID-19 and 28 recoveries, raising the active case total in the city at 481 as of the end of day April 13.

The County of Grande Prairie saw five new cases added along with 17 recoveries. There are now 192 active cases there.

Across Alberta, there were 1,412 new cases identified following the completion of 15,738 tests. Those tests had a 9.1 per cent positivity rate.

There were also 778 cases involving variants of concern in the province on Sunday. Variant cases now make up 52.6 per cent of the 15,569 active cases in the province.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day April 13 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 2,643 cases (481 active, 2138 recovered, 24 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 863 cases (192 active, 667 recovered, four deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 483 cases (23 active, 456 recovered, four deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 14 cases (two active, 12 recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 58 cases (seven active, 51 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 18 cases (three active, 15 recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 126 cases (11 active, 105 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 544 cases (66 active, 467 recovered, 11 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 271 cases (seven active, 264 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 523 cases (26 active, 497 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 83 cases (18 active, 64 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 116 cases (nine active, 106 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 253 cases (six active, 248 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 104 cases (five active, 99 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,338 cases (74 active, 1,244 recovered, 20 deaths)

There are 420 Albertans in hospital for COVID-19 as of Tuesday night, an increase of 18 over the last 24 hours. Of those in hospital, 92 patients are in intensive care, up two from Monday..

In the North Zone, 33 people are in hospital, seven of whom are in intensive care.

Eight more deaths were reported to Alberta Health from across the province over the last 24 hours. There have now been 2,029 Albertans who have died from COVID-19 complications.
