Grande Prairie adds 27 new COVID-19 cases, 39 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie recorded 27 new cases of COVID-19 and 39 recoveries over the last 24 hours. That brings the active case total in the Swan City down by 12 to 476 as of the end of day April 26.

The County of Grande Prairie saw 10 new cases along with 21 recoveries for Monday. There are now 208 active cases there.

Across Alberta, there were 1,539 new cases identified following the completion of 13,743 tests. Those tests had a 11.4 per cent positivity rate.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day April 26 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 3,136 cases (476 active, 2,635 recovered, 25 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 1,091 cases (208 active, 879 recovered, four deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 510 cases (24 active, 482 recovered, four deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 19 cases (five active, 14 recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 69 cases (11 active, 58 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 24 cases (two active, 22 recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 137 cases (10 active, 117 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 642 cases (96 active, 535 recovered, 11 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 304 cases (32 active, 272 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 565 cases (40 active, 525 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 101 cases (16 active, 84 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 133 cases (18 active, 114 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 298 cases (38 active, 259 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 115 cases (10 active, 105 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,487 cases (151 active, 1,315 recovered, 21 deaths)

There were 635 Albertans in hospital for COVID-19 as of Monday night, an increase of 19 over the last 24 hours. Of those, 143 patients are in intensive care, down two from Sunday.

In the North Zone, 60 people are in hospital (up five), 11 of whom are in intensive care (up one).

There were seven new deaths reported to Alberta Health from across the province on Monday. There have now been 2,067 deaths recorded in Alberta due to COVID-19 complications.

As of Monday, 1,468,785 doses of vaccine have been administered in the province, with 49,597 of those doses being administered on Monday.

284,870 people have received two doses of the vaccine, meaning they are fully immunized.

Approximately 26.2 per cent of Albertans have received at least one dose of vaccine.
