Wildfire hazard moderate in Grande Prairie Forest Area

Apr 30, 2021 | 5:53 PM

Alberta Agriculture and Forestry says the wildfire hazard in the Grande Prairie Forest Area is now rated moderate.

It has seen 18 wildfires that have burned 10.5 hectares of land since the start of the wildfire season on March 1.

All of the fires were caused by humans. Fifteen of them are listed as extinguished, the other three have been turned over to those responsible.

Fire watchers are asking people to check any winter burn sites for possible hold-over fires. They say these can flare up again, especially when it is windy.
