Phase 3

All Albertans 12 and older eligible to book COVID-19 vaccine appointments starting Monday

May 5, 2021 | 10:11 AM

All Albertans born in 2009 or earlier will be able to book an appointment for a COVID-19 vaccine starting on Monday, May 10.

This comes as Health Canada approved the use of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for use in people 12 and older.

This part (Phase 3) of the vaccine rollout will happen in two phases, with anyone born in 1991 or earlier (30+) being able to book their appointment for a vaccine starting Thursday, May 6.

Then on Monday, May 10, all Albertans aged 12 and over will be able to book.

“This is a very exciting day for Alberta and it arrives right when we need it the most,” said Premier Jason Kenney. “We are battling an extremely aggressive third wave of COVID-19 and we know that vaccines are our best weapon against it.

“By opening bookings to everybody over 12 years of age, we are taking a huge step towards stopping the spike and hopefully putting this pandemic behind us for good.”

Appointments can be booked by calling 811, or through the AHS website. A list of participating pharmacies can also be found on that website.

As of May 3, there have been 1,668,455 doses of vaccine administered in Alberta, with 303,509 people having been fully vaccinated.
