Storm wrap up the season with road sweep of Crusaders

The Grande Prairie Storm closed the curtain on their 2020-21 AJHL season with a convincing road sweep of the Sherwood Park Crusaders.

On Friday night, Ethan Strang scored the lone goal, while Joe How made 30 saves for his first shut out as a member of the Storm, as Grande Prairie blanked the Crusaders 1-0.

Then on Saturday, the Storm erased an early 1-0 deficit by scoring five times over the final 40 minutes for a 5-1 triumph.

Ty Toews, Dan McIntyre, Ethan Strang, Paycen Bjorklund, and Brett Meerman all scored in the victory, while Joe Howe made 27 saves in goal.

For Strang, the two goals over the weekend gave him five in four games against the Crusaders this season.

The wins allowed the Storm to finish the season with a record of 9-8-1, which gave them the third-best winning percentage among teams in the AJHL’s North Division.
