City closes section of Muskoseepi trail north of 68 Avenue due to asphalt cracks

The City of Grande Prairie is closing a section of the walking trail through Muskoseepi Park north of the 68 Avenue bridge due to significant cracks in the pavement.

The city says there is no danger to any nearby homes and that crews are assessing the damage and are working on a plan to address it.

This section of trail was closed in July of 2020 due to bank erosion in the area. The city installed land movement monitors in in that area back in February to monitor the slopes, embankments and retaining walls adjacent to Bear Creek.

The section with cracks in the trail, which residents are asked to avoid, is denoted with a red X in the image below:
