Fire ban in Birch Hills County, advisory issued in Peace River Forest Area

May 21, 2021 | 5:19 PM

A fire ban is now in place in Birch Hills County.

The County says the ban is being put in place because of what it describes as the extreme fire hazard.

No new burning is allowed and any fires burning now must be put out.

Gas barbecues are still allowed. The ban will stay in place until further notice.

The MD of Fairview still has a fire restriction in place. This prohibits burning stubble and large brush piles along with fireworks and random campfires, but campfires in backyard pits and campgrounds, burning small bush piles, and burn barrels are among burning still allowed.

The Peace River Forest Area, Town of Fairview, MD of Peace, and Town of Peace River all have fire advisories in place.
