Fairview house fire being investigated as arson

RCMP in Fairview are investigating after what they deemed to be arson significantly damaged two homes in the town Saturday morning.

The Fairview Fire Department and RCMP responded to the scene on 105 Avenue just after 9 a.m. May 22. All nearby homes were evacuated as crews arrived.

Fire crews were successful in extinguishing the fire, and no one was injured in the blaze, but the primary home and an adjacent home were heavily damage.

Police estimate the damages totalled in the amount of $800,000.

They say as a result of the initial investigation by the fire investigator and RCMP, the blaze is believed to be caused by arson.
