RCMP looking to identify suspect after child approached in High Prairie

RCMP in High Prairie are seeking the public’s help to identify a female suspect who allegedly approached a young child in the community on Monday.

Authorities say they were informed of the incident just before 1 p m. on May 24, which investigation determined occurred between the adult female suspect and a one-year-old child in the area of 46 Street and 59 Avenue.

Police say their investigation has found that the female suspect was travelling in an RV, with British Columbia license plates, which was being driven by a male.

Authorities add the RV was travelling slowly near other children in the area at that time and fled the area towards 53 Avenue and 41 Street when adults tried to engage with the male driver.

The female suspect is described as being in her early 50’s, between 5’3″ and 5’5″, heavyset with red/white hair and round bottle glasses with gold rims.

High Prairie RCMP were assisted by additional officers and neighboring RCMP Detachments in an effort to locate the suspect RV. However, it has not yet been found.
