Eastbound Lanes to Close

Aquatera set to resume 84 Avenue sanitary sewer work in June

Aquatera is resuming work to install a sanitary sewer main along 84 Avenue in the Westpointe area on June 1, meaning the eastbound lanes between 115 and 113 Street will once again be closed and routed to single lane traffic on one of the existing westbound lanes.

The work to install the diversion line of the Westpointe area sanitary sewer system into the 116 Street Trunk Line began in May of 2020, and was hoped to be completed in August of that year.

However, Engineering Services Manager with Aquatera Ralph Wohlgemuth told EverythingGP back in October that the soil in that area is a very dense, hard clay, which made it difficult for the auger that was being used to bore into the soil.

While a larger unit was brought in to bore the hole before the winter season, more work still remains to finish the connection between 115 and 113 Street.
