Wildfire danger rated high in Grande Prairie Forest Area
Alberta Wildfire has raised the fire danger level in the Grande Prairie Forest Area to high as of Monday, May 31.
In a release, Alberta Wildfire says they’ve moved the fire danger to high because of the dry and windy conditions currently in the area.
Moving the level to high doesn’t mean there is a fire ban, but Alberta Wildfire is asking residents to use caution if they are burning or using off-highway vehicles in the area of dried grass, as fire can spread quickly and become hard to control.
Since March 1, 2021, there have been 36 wildfires burning nearly 59 hectares in the Grande Prairie Forest Area.
