Local business launches “crafts only” vending machine at Grande Prairie Farmers Market

A local business is bringing a unique experience to the Grande Prairie Farmers Market.

Tina Shaw, the Owner of Crafty Things tells EverythingGP she’s decided to create a custom “crafts only” vending machine in the Farmers Market this year, with the hopes people will be able to make some art, once they’re finished their day at the market.

“I thought what a cool idea to have after you’ve been wandering around the Farmers Market. To be inspired by everyone else’s artwork and go try and take your own hand at it and do something with it.”

Shaw said she got the idea off of Pinterest. She adds there will be tons of variety inside the vending machine.

“There’s paint kits, peg doll kits, needlepoint kits, patterns, crochet kits, there will be a wide variety that you’ll be able to see. It’s great for kids and it’s basically there to inspire you to get crafting.”

Inside the vending machine, the crafts will cost between $1.00 and $5.00 each. Shaw said her goal was to make the vending machine as affordable as possible.

“I wanted for kids to be able to take their allowance there and pick out something. I wanted it to be available for everybody.”

The plan is for the vending machine to be restocked every week with new crafts.

The vending machine will be available at the Farmers Market for the remainder of the season. If it takes off, Shaw says she’ll potentially be adding more of them around the city.
