Grande Prairie adds three new COVID cases, 16 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie recorded three new COVID-19 cases and 16 recoveries, bringing the active case count to 57 on June 4.

The County of Grande Prairie added one new case and three recoveries, bringing the active case count to 50.

The new figures come as Alberta added 293 cases on June 4, following the completion of 6,843 tests. That resulted in a positivity rate of 4.3 per cent.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of June 4 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 3,887 cases (57 active, 3,802 recovered, 28 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 1,387 cases (50 active, 1,332 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 583 cases (six active, 573 recovered, four deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 30 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 81 cases (one active, 80 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 29 cases (one active, 28 recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 147 cases (one active, 136 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 713 cases (four active, 697 recovered, 12 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 363 cases (nine active, 353 recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Peace: 688 cases (15 active, 673 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 131 cases (129 recovered, two deaths)
  • Clear Hills County: 135 cases (134 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 314 cases (one active, 312 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 136 cases (one active, 135 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,882 cases (28 active, 1,828 recovered, 26 deaths)

Deaths

Alberta’s COVID-19 death toll rose to 2,246 on June 4 as three more deaths were recorded in the province.

Hospitalizations

Hospitalizations for COVID-19 in Alberta have decreased by six to 373 as of Friday, while the number of ICU patients decreased by three to 105.

In the North Zone, 35 people are in hospital (down two), nine of whom are in intensive care.

Vaccinations

The City of Grande Prairie now has 40.6 per cent of its population with at least one dose of vaccine. The total number of people in Grande Prairie that have at least their first dose of vaccine sits at 30,477. A total of 4,199 people, or 5.6 per cent of the population in the city, has been fully immunized.

In the east and west County region combined, 13,198 people have received at least one dose, equalling 39 per cent of the population.

Across Alberta, 61,628 doses were given out on Friday, bringing the total number of Albertans who have received at least one dose of vaccine to 2,510,722, while 502,833 Albertans have received two doses.

Those totals mean 56.2 per cent of Albertans are immunized with at least one dose or 66 per cent of those aged 12+. Alberta Health adds 11.2 per cent of the population is fully vaccinated.
