Grande Prairie records three new COVID-19 cases, six recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added three new cases of COVID-19 and six recoveries for Monday, June 7, bringing the city’s active case total down by three to 55.

No new cases and one recovery was recorded in the County of Grande Prairie, where there are now 45 active cases.

The new cases come as Alberta Health reported 139 new cases province-wide following the completion of 3,443 tests on June 7. Those tests resulted in a positivity rate of 4 per cent.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of June 7 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 3,894 cases (55 active, 3,811 recovered, 28 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 1,388 cases (45 active, 1,338 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 583 cases (three active, 576 recovered, four deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 30 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 81 cases (all recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 30 cases (two active, 28 recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 147 cases (one active, 136 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 714 cases (five active, 697 recovered, 12 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 366 cases (12 active, 353 recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Peace: 688 cases (14 active, 674 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 131 cases (129 recovered, two deaths)
  • Clear Hills County: 135 cases (134 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 310 cases (309 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 136 cases (one active, 135 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,888 cases (28 active, 1,834 recovered, 26 deaths)

Deaths

Three new deaths were reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll from COVID-19 in the province to 2,251.

Hospitalizations

Hospitalizations for COVID-19 in Alberta decreased by 15 to 336 as of Monday night, while the number of ICU patients decreased by nine to 85.

In the North Zone, 28 people are in hospital (down eight), six of whom are in intensive care (down one).

Vaccinations

The City of Grande Prairie now has 41.2 per cent of its population with at least one dose of vaccine. The total number of people in Grande Prairie that have at least their first dose of vaccine sits at 30,903. A total of 5,040 people, or 6.7 per cent of the population in the city, has been fully immunized.

In the east and west County region combined, 13,341 people have received at least one dose, equalling 39.5 per cent of the population.

Across Alberta, 38,513 doses were given out on Monday, bringing the total number of Albertans who have received at least one dose of vaccine to 2,550,015, while 573,211 Albertans have received two doses.

Those totals mean 57 per cent of Albertans are immunized with at least one dose, or 67 per cent of those aged 12+. Alberta Health adds 12.8 per cent of the population (15.1 per cent of the 12+) have been fully vaccinated.
