Peace River woman’s death along Highway 986 deemed suspicious

A 29-year-old Peace River woman has died after a reported hit-and-run west of Cadotte Lake, and authorities have ruled the circumstances of her death suspicious.

On June 7 Peace Regional RCMP responded to the 911 call of the pedestrian being hit along Highway 986 on the Woodland Cree First Nation.

RCMP arrived with EMS and found the woman deceased at the scene, and police investigation has ruled the circumstances of the collision to be suspicious.

Alberta RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit has now taken over the investigation.

An autopsy is scheduled at the Edmonton Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for June 16.
