Elevated levels of fecal bacteria
Water quality advisory issued for Young’s Point Provincial Park Beach
Jun 11, 2021 | 4:42 PM
Due to elevated levels of fecal bacteria found in the water at the Young’s Point Provincial Park beach area, Alberta Health Services is advising the public not to swim or wade in the water, effective immediately and until further notice.
The elevated levels of fecal bacteria were detected through testing of the lake water. At current levels, AHS says ingestion of the water could lead to gastrointestinal illness, and there is the possibility of skin, ear and eye infections if there is contact made with the water.
Visitors and residents are reminded to never drink or cook with untreated water directly from any lake or reservoir, at any time.
AHS Environmental Public Health officers will continue to monitor the water.
