Grande Prairie man launches website for food truck enthusiasts

Jun 12, 2021 | 7:00 AM

A Grande Prairie man has launched a website that will be a big help for food truck enthusiasts trying to find out where their favourite truck might be located.

Jeff Kaior of Grande Prairie has created the website gpfoodtrucks.com.

The website allows residents throughout the Swan City to view what food trucks are available and what locations they are set up at. The website also features the menus of food trucks throughout the city.

As a food truck enthusiast himself, Kaior says it was an easy decision to make the website, to notify people where each food truck would be located.

“I was trying to find out where all the food trucks were myself so that we can go. It just kind of happened, I was looking for something to build and get out there and I thought, ‘maybe I’ll be able to put together a website with a map’ and it just kind of evolved into what it did.

In order to get food trucks involved, Kaior sent out a mass email to the food truck operators explaining his idea.

He says he got responses from about half of the food trucks in Grande Prairie. He also sent them a google sheet document so they can give him their schedules on where the food truck would be located for each specific day.

So far, Kaior tells EverythingGP the food truck operators that have responded have loved the idea of the website.

“It’s just streamlined for everybody and their customers. They get the exposure out there and there are so many people I’ve talked to that said they had no idea there was that many food trucks in Grande Prairie.”

Kaior also added the public response to the website has been massive.

“I did a Facebook post to kind of introduce myself and I ended up getting 400 likes, over 100 comments and shares. It was very humbling and nice to see that, I guess I found the mark on that where it wouldn’t just be me who found this to be useful.”

Currently, there are 20 food trucks listed on the website and Kaior hopes that number will continue to grow.

Anyone with a food truck who would like to get their truck featured is invited to contact Kaior about getting on the website.
