Two new COVID-19 cases, two recoveries recorded in Grande Prairie

The City of Grande Prairie recorded two new COVID-19 cases and two recoveries for Sunday, June 13, leaving the City’s active case total at 53.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were no new cases along with four recoveries. There are now 33 active COVID-19 cases there.

There were 115 new COVID-19 cases added in Alberta on Sunday, following the completion of 3,315 tests. Those tests had a positivity rate of 3.5 per cent.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of June 13 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 3,923 cases (53 active, 3,841 recovered, 29 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 1,404 cases (33 active, 1,366 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 585 cases (three active, 578 recovered, four deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 32 cases (two active, 30 recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 81 cases (all recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 31 cases (two active, 29 recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 147 cases (one active, 136 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 715 cases (five active, 698 recovered, 12 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 370 cases (13 active, 356 recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Peace: 689 cases (11 active, 678 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 131 cases (129 recovered, two deaths)
  • Clear Hills County: 135 cases (134 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 310 cases (309 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 136 cases (all recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,920 cases (40 active, 1,854 recovered, 26 deaths)

Hospitalizations

Hospitalizations for COVID-19 in Alberta decreased by two to 270 as of Sunday night, while ICU patients decreased by two to 73.

In the North Zone, 31 people remain in hospital (up six), seven of whom are in the ICU (unchanged).

Fatalities

One new death was reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll from COVID-19 in the province to 2,270.

“While one new death was reported to Alberta Health in the past 24 hours, a previously reported death was determined post-mortem to be unrelated to COVID-19 and has been removed from the total deaths,” explains Tom McMillan with Alberta Health, point to the fact the death toll remains unchanged from Sunday’s update.

“As a result, the total death count remains unchanged at 2,270.”

Vaccinations

In Grande Prairie, 51.2 per cent of all eligible residents have their first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine, meaning 31,942 people 12 and older have at least one dose. There are 7,176 people, or 11.5 per cent of those eligible, who have been fully vaccinated.

Across Alberta, the number of people who have received at least one dose of vaccine sits at 2,620,395 while 792,356 Albertans have received two doses.

Those totals mean 58.6 per cent of Albertans are immunized with at least one dose, or 68.8 per cent of those aged 12+.

Alberta Health adds 17.7 per cent of the population (20.8+ per cent of those 12+) have been fully vaccinated.
