Fox Creek RCMP asking public for dash cam footage following firearms incident on Highway 43

The Fox Creek RCMP is asking the public for any dash cam footage, regarding a firearms incident that occurred on June 16 on Highway 43 in the area of the Little Smokey General Store between the hours of 6:45 p.m. and 7:45 p.m.

Both the RCMP and RCMP Police Dog Service were deployed, but they were unable to locate the firearm believed to be used in the incident.

The following day, on June 17, the Fox Creek RCMP with the assistance of the Greenview Search and Rescue, conducted a search in a new location pertaining to the outstanding firearm.

Greenview Search and Rescue were able to locate the firearm, which was then seized by police.

At 8:45 p.m. on June 17, officers arrested 29-year-old Blaine Clifford Landsverk, of Duffield, Alberta.

Landsverk faces the following charges:

  • Pointing a firearm
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a controlled substance (Cocaine)
  • Mischief under $5,000

Following a judicial hearing, Landsverk was released on cash bail with conditions; however, was unable to meet bail and remains in custody awaiting his next scheduled appearance in Fox Creek Provincial Court on June 28, 2021.
