Grande Prairie adds two new COVID-19 cases, Alberta adds 60

There were 60 new cases of COVID-19 were identified in Alberta for Sunday, June, 20. There are 2,003 active cases in the province.

The City of Grande Prairie added two new cases along with one recovery. There are 50 active cases in the City.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there was one new case reported along with two recoveries. There are 23 active cases in the County.

Of the 60 new cases found in Alberta for Sunday, there were 2,833 tests completed resulting in a 2.1 per cent test positivity rate.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of June 20 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 3,946 cases (50 active, 3,867 recovered, 29 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 1,409 cases (23 active, 1,381 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 592 cases (eight active, 580 recovered, four deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 32 cases (two active, 30 recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 81 cases (all recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 31 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 147 cases (137 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 715 cases (one active, 702 recovered, 12 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 375 cases (nine active, 365 recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Peace: 689 cases (four active, 685 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 131 cases (129 recovered, two deaths)
  • Clear Hills County: 135 cases (134 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 313 cases (312 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 136 cases (all recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,925 cases (31 active, 1,868 recovered, 26 deaths)

Hospitalizations

Across the province, hospitalizations for COVID-19 remained stable at 214, while the number of patients in an ICU grew by three to 56.

In the North Zone, 24 people are in hospital (no change) with four in intensive care (down one).

Fatalities

Two new deaths were reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours, 2,292 people have now died from COVID-19 in Alberta.

Vaccinations

In Grande Prairie, 52.6 per cent of all eligible residents have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, meaning 32,801 people 12 and older have at least one shot.

There are 11,583 people or 18.6 per cent of the population that has been fully vaccinated.

Across Alberta, 2,691,359 people have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 1,113,341 Albertans have been fully vaccinated.

This means, 70.7 per cent of Albertans 12 and older have received at least a dose of a vaccine, 29.2 per cent of the population is fully vaccinated.
