Grande Prairie RCMP say a 26-year-old man has died following a collision on Highway 40/108 Street Thursday morning.

The two vehicle collision on 108 Street, just south of 68 Avenue, happened around 6:30 a.m. Thursday. Preliminary investigation suggests a pickup was traveling southbound, had passed another southbound vehicle and collided with a northbound gravel truck.

The 26-year-old male and lone occupant of the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and lone occupant of the gravel truck was treated at the scene for non-life threatening injuries.

The name of the deceased will not be released.

Grande Prairie RCMP say the road is now re-opened to traffic in all directions.

Grande Prairie RCMP, along with the assistance of the RCMP Collision Reconstructionist, are continuing their investigation into the cause of this collision.
