Eight recoveries, two new COVID-19 cases recorded in Grande Prairie

The City of Grande Prairie added two new cases of COVID-19 along with eight recoveries for Wednesday, June 23, bringing the active case total in the city down by six to 44.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were no new cases reported along with four recoveries. There are now 10 active cases there.

Across Alberta there were 73 new cases of COVID-19 identified, following the completion of approximately 5,715 tests. Those tests came with a positivity rate of 1.3 per cent.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of June 23 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 3,958 cases (44 active, 3,885 recovered, 29 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 1,408 cases (10 active, 1,393 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 592 cases (six active, 582 recovered, four deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 32 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 81 cases (all recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 31 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 147 cases (137 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 716 cases (two active, 702 recovered, 13 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 378 cases (nine active, 368 recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Peace: 689 cases (three active, 686 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 131 cases (129 recovered, two deaths)
  • Clear Hills County: 135 cases (134 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 313 cases (312 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 136 cases (all recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,926 cases (16 active, 1,884 recovered, 26 deaths)

Hospitalizations

Across the province, hospitalizations for COVID-19 dropped by nine to 190 as of Wednesday night, while the number of patients in an ICU dropped by six to 50.

In the North Zone, 18 people are in hospital (down one) with four in intensive care (unchanged).

Fatalities

One new death was reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours. 2,293 people have now died from COVID-19 in Alberta.

Vaccinations

In Grande Prairie, 53.1 per cent of all eligible residents have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, meaning 33,080 people 12 and older have at least one shot.

There are 13,132 people, or 21.1 per cent of the eligible population, that has been fully vaccinated.

Across Alberta, 2,708,245 people have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 1,255,176 Albertans have been fully vaccinated.

This means, 71.1 per cent of Albertans 12 and older have received at least a dose of a vaccine, while 33 per cent of the eligible population is fully vaccinated.
