Grande Prairie adds five new COVID-19 cases, Alberta adds 209 over four days

The City of Grande Prairie added five new cases of COVID-19 along with 10 recoveries from June 24-27, meaning there are now 39 active cases in the City as of Sunday, June 27.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were ten recoveries and no new cases added over the last four days. There are six active cases there.

Across Alberta, there were 209 new COVID-19 cases identified over the four days, along with the competition of 22,232 tests, resulting in a 0.94 per cent test positivity rate. There are currently 1,281 active cases in the province.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of June 27 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 3,963 cases (39 active, 3,895 recovered, 29 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 1,408 cases (six active, 1,397 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 592 cases (five active, 583 recovered, four deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 33 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 81 cases (all recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 31 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 147 cases (137 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 716 cases (two active, 702 recovered, 13 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 379 cases (five active, 373 recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Peace: 690 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 131 cases (129 recovered, two deaths)
  • Clear Hills County: 135 cases (134 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 313 cases (312 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 136 cases (all recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,925 cases (nine active, 1,890 recovered, 26 deaths)

Hospitalizations

Across the province, hospitalizations declined by 11 to 179, while ICU patients also fell by 11 down to 39.

In the North Zone, 20 people are in hospital (up two) while three are in the ICU (down one).

Fatalities

There were two more deaths reported from COVID-19 in Alberta, bringing the COVID-19 death toll in the province to 2,295.

Vaccinations

In Grande Prairie, 53.3 per cent of eligible residents are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, while 25.1 percent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.

Across Alberta, 2,729,505 people have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 1,468,958 Albertans have been fully vaccinated.

This means 71.7 per cent of those eligible in Alberta have been given at least one dose, while 38.6 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated.
