Grande Prairie records four COVID-19 recoveries, no new cases

The City of Grande Prairie added no new cases of COVID-19 along with four recoveries for Monday, June 28, meaning there are now 35 active cases in the city.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there was one recovery and no new cases recorded on Monday. There are now five active cases there.

Across Alberta, there were 61 new COVID-19 cases identified on June 28 following the competition of 3,453 tests, resulting in a 1.6 per cent test positivity rate.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of June 28 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 3,963 cases (35 active, 3,899 recovered, 29 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 1,408 cases (five active, 1,398 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 593 cases (one active, 588 recovered, four deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 33 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 81 cases (all recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 31 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 147 cases (137 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 716 cases (three active, 701 recovered, 13 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 379 cases (five active, 372 recovered, two deaths)
  • M.D. of Peace: 691 cases (one active, 690 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 131 cases (129 recovered, two deaths)
  • Clear Hills County: 135 cases (134 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 313 cases (312 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 136 cases (all recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,924 cases (10 active, 1,888 recovered, 26 deaths)

Hospitalizations

Across the province, hospitalizations declined by nine to 170, while ICU patients also fell by three down to 36.

In the North Zone, 18 people are in hospital (down two) while two are in the ICU (down one).

Fatalities

There were four more deaths reported from COVID-19 in Alberta, bringing the COVID-19 death toll in the province to 2,299.

Vaccinations

In Grande Prairie 33,435 people, 54.3 per cent of eligible residents, have at least one dose of vaccine.16,382 residents, or 26.2 per cent of those eligible, are fully vaccinated.

Across Alberta, 2,734,033 people have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 1,532,375 Albertans have been fully vaccinated.

This means 72.7 per cent of those eligible in Alberta have been given at least one dose, while 40.7 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated.
