Grande Prairie down to 34 active COVID-19 cases

The City of Grande Prairie added no new cases of COVID-19 for Tuesday, June 29, while one case was removed from the city’s overall total, meaning there are now 34 active cases in the city.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were three new cases and four recoveries. There are now four active cases there.

Across Alberta, there were 76 new COVID-19 cases identified on June 29 following the competition of 6,335 tests, resulting in a 1.2 per cent test positivity rate.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of June 29 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 3,962 cases (34 active, 3,899 recovered, 29 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 1,401 cases (four active, 1,402 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 593 cases (one active, 588 recovered, four deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 33 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 81 cases (all recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 31 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 147 cases (137 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 717 cases (five active, 699 recovered, 13 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 380 cases (six active, 372 recovered, two deaths)
  • M.D. of Peace: 691 cases (one active, 690 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 131 cases (129 recovered, two deaths)
  • Clear Hills County: 135 cases (134 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 311 cases (310 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 136 cases (all recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,924 cases (nine active, 1,889 recovered, 26 deaths)

Hospitalizations

Across the province, hospitalizations declined by five to 165, while ICU patients also fell by two down to 34.

In the North Zone, 17 people are in hospital (down one) while two are in the ICU (unchanged).

Fatalities

There were two more deaths from COVID-19 reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours, bringing the COVID-19 death toll in the province to 2,301.

Vaccinations

In Grande Prairie 33,505 people, or 54.4 per cent of eligible residents, have at least one dose of vaccine.17,249 residents, or 28 per cent of those eligible, are fully vaccinated.

Across Alberta, 2,739,483 people have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 1,593,400 Albertans have been fully vaccinated.

This means 72.8 per cent of those eligible in Alberta have been given at least one dose, while 42.4 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated.
