City of Grande Prairie adds eight COVID-19 recoveries, no new cases over previous two days

COVID-19 cases in the City of Grande Prairie continued to decline over the last two days. The City recorded eight recoveries and saw two cases moved to different zones, so there are currently 24 active cases in Grande Prairie.

The County of Grande Prairie added four recoveries and is down to just two active cases.

Across Alberta, there were 67 new COVID-19 cases confirmed on June 30 and 43 new cases on July 1. There was a one per cent test positivity rate over the two days. Currently, there are 895 active cases in the province.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of July 1 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 3,960 cases (24 active, 3,907 recovered, 29 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 1,413 cases (two active, 1,406 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 593 cases (589 recovered, four deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 33 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 81 cases (all recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 31 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 147 cases (137 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 718 cases (five active, 700 recovered, 13 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 379 cases (five active, 372 recovered, two deaths)
  • M.D. of Peace: 692 cases (two active, 690 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 133 cases (two active, 129 recovered, two deaths)
  • Clear Hills County: 135 cases (134 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 311 cases (310 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 136 cases (all recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,930 cases (12 active, 1,892 recovered, 26 deaths)

Hospitalizations

Across the province, hospitalizations dropped by 21 to 144, while the number of ICU patients fell by one to 33.

In the North Zone, 13 people are in hospital (down five), while two remain in the ICU.

Fatalities

There were no new COVID-19 deaths recorded over the last 48 hours. There have been 2,301 people who have died as a result of COVID-19 in Alberta.

Vaccinations

In Grande Prairie 33,600 people, 54.5 per cent of eligible residents, have at least one dose of vaccine.18,468 residents, or 30 per cent of those eligible, are fully vaccinated.

Across Alberta, 2,747,908 people have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 1,685,067 Albertans have been fully vaccinated.

This means 73.1 per cent of those eligible in Alberta have been given at least one dose, while 44.8 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated.
