All Lanes Reopened

Wildfire smoke on Highway 43 near Fox Creek

UPDATE: All lanes of Highway 43 north of Fox Creek have reopened. The wildfire in the area is also now classified as under control at 0.71 hectares in size.

511 Alberta says a wildfire means Highway 43 about 30 kilometres north of Fox Creek near Township Road 650 temporarily forced the closure of the highway in both directions.

However, after near an hour of a closure, one northbound lane remains closed but the other northbound lane and the southbound lanes are open.

511 Alberta says thick smoke led to zero visibility at times.
